Equifax Security Breach

Equifax, one of the three primary credit bureaus in the U.S., announced on September 7, 2017 that their data systems were compromised by hackers.  The unauthorized access occurred from mid-May through July 2017, potentially exposing the personal information of up to 143 million Americans.

Please note, your account was not breached at ACIPCO FCU.  However, it is always a good idea to be vigilant in monitoring all of your financial accounts, now and on a regular basis.

What you can do:

  • Visit Equifaxsecurity2017.com or contact Equifax at 866-447-7559 to determine if your information was potentially compromised.
  • Check the other two credit agencies, Experian and Transunion to monitor your credit report.  You may also visit AnnualCreditReport.com, where you can review your credit report with any of the 3 agencies once a year for free.
  • Consider signing up for an identity theft protection service such as Member Security.  Using an identity theft protection service is the best way to minimize risk and protect your personal information from being misused.

Again, ACIPCO FCU is not part of the Equifax data breach, but we know that the personal information of our members is highly sensitive, and it is always our goal to help insure that it is protected.  If you have any questions about your account with ACIPCO FCU, please call us at (205) 328-4371.
